Overboard

This is what I call a lifesaver

Wine bottle life jacket available here

Last night I ended up going across the bay to Charlevoix for dinner with a few couples, via boat. Jack had class in Chicago and was going to drive up after so I was the seventh wheel, if you will.

I hadn't planned on this little excursion though probably would have worn pants instead of a dress had I known. I also somehow managed to leave the house without a rubber band or hair tie, which I usually keep around my wrist. This would not have been a problem but we were going very fast and my hair was flying everywhere until our hostess offered me a baseball cap which helped, sort of.

My sister-in-law came prepared with a long white scarf she wrapped around her head. The key to this look, and making it work, I learned, is tying it in the front, not the back as I would have been inclined to do. Oh no, then it might just fly off. Her scarf also had these little pom poms which she complained kept hitting her in the face and kind of looked like a baby's bonnet. In conclusion, bring a scarf, resist the pom poms.

When in doubt- WWJD?

Triple threat- Scarf, sunglasses AND gloves!

Okay, WWAD too...

I love scarves and have quite a few, some inherited, some purchased, though I never remember to take them out. A few months ago I was at Anthropologie and came across this book on Vera, the legendary designer famous for her bright, poppy and affordable scarves.

Read all about it here

I quite like this one

I instantly went home and bought one of her scarves- a red, white and blue number- on ebay for about $5.

A sampling of her work. It appears her little scarf business has grown into quite the empire, you can see all of her inspired products on the website here

Sadly, my new scarf went directly into my dusty scarf box and has not seen the light of day since. It would have been perfect for this weekend- next year people, next year I am rocking the head scarf and in the meantime, I might just have to take a page out of Goldie's book...

And are those cherries I see?

Am I overstating it if I say Overboard is one of the greatest movies of all time?

Oh, and if I never really get to wearing the scarf, I might just frame it and put it on my wall. After the move...

Xox,
Jenny

My SIL realized she had an extra scarf on the ride home. Yes, Corey, I too wear my sunglasses at night.
